Reeses Chocolate Cake

Sometimes friends will ask me for my help when baking cakes for their friends’ birthdays. This cake happened to be one of those times. The great thing about this cake is that it looks so fancy and difficult to make, but its actually very easy. My friend probably didn’t even need my help!

This cake is a two-layer chocolate cake made from a box mix and is filled and frosted with a chocolate peanut butter ganache. It’s also covered with chopped Mini Reeses cups!

Reeses Chocolate Cake

  • 1 devils food cake mix (and ingredients needed to bake)
  • 3 bags chopped Mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

  1. Prepare the devils food cake as instructed on the box, mix in 1 bags worth of peanut butter cups, and then bake in two 8 inch round pans.
  2. While the cake is cooling, place chopped dark chocolate in a medium sized bowl.
  3. Bring the cream to a boil and then pour cream over the chocolate.
  4. Whisk until the chocolate melts, then add the peanut butter and whisk until smooth.
  5. Trim each cake layer so that the tops are flat.
  6. Pour just enough ganache over the first layer to cover the surface. Spread evenly with a spatula.
  7. Add the second layer and pour the remaining frosting over the top and sides of the cake. Smooth out with a spatula.
  8. Allow the frosting to set for a minute and then gently begin to press the remaining peanut butter cups onto the top and sides of the cake.
  9. Place in the refrigerator for about an hour to set. Remove and Serve.
